In talking with colleagues there are some concerns over the details of this story.
One of the biggest is that it’s not clear what varieties of white cacao are being planted, with some reports suggesting that the varieties are being introduced from Ecuador, not being taken from local varieties.
If so, that’s a pretty unfortunate decision. I will continue to ask questions and learn what I can.
