When people who are involved in sourcing, brokering, trading, and distributing of cocoa beans are asked to speak on panels, it’s almost always done with an eye firmly on producers: what do they need to do to make their cocoa more enticing to potential buyers?
While this is, of course, important, it’s just one aspect of the daily work of those who stand between producers and buyers. This live stream features friend and colleague Maria Jimenéz Rojas, who spends most of her time in the specialty cocoa division at Daarnhouwer & Co. B.V., which in addition to cocoa trades in coffee and tree nuts.
Two of the areas I personally want to discuss are a) what chocolate makers need to know before they approach a company like Daarnhouwer to help them with their sourcing relationships; and b) about the kinds of services companies like Daarnhouwer can offer that extend the reach of chocolate makers, especially smaller ones. What are your questions?
