Episode 85 Overview
This episode of #PodSaveChocolate is the December News & AMA episode. This month I am featuring a recorded interview with friend and colleague Marc Donaldson that builds on what I discussed in episode 82 on the relatedness of the #EUDR, #CSDDD, #CSRD, and #ESRS. You may want to watch that episode before this one.

Watching (or rewatching) episode 82 will set the stage for this episode.
As the saying goes, “Life is what happens while you’re busy making plans,” and in the interval between my interview with Marc (about ten days) and this episode.
The deadline for the EUDR to come into full effect has been delayed for one year.
Marc and I discussed this possibility in the episode and he opined that delay was unlikely because of the huge investments and commitments made to meet the year-end 2024 deadline. There was also a risk that delaying the enforcement date could open the legislation to changes that would weaken it considerably.
We also discuss where inspection will be done, who is likely to be subject to inspection, who is liable for paying any fines, if/when assessed (and other risk elements), and other aspects of the combined legislation I brought up in episode 82.
