Note: Home Chocolat is a supporter of TheChocolateLife at the Team TCL Guru level. However, they are not directly sponsoring this episode.

I normally don’t promote Kickstarter campaigns, but this one is different: I have been an advisor to Home Chocolat founder Liora Omer and her startup team for the past five years. First for their CocoaBlox kits and then on the Chocolatier Pro, a small, batch tempering machine, easy enough for home hobbyists to use without sacrificing the capabilities that professionals need.

Before there was the Chocolatier Pro there were CocoaBlox Kits.
From the very beginning, the Chocolatier Pro had a number of very important design goals:
- Create a tempering appliance no different from a home ice cream maker or bread machine, that would look, at home in a home kitchen.
- It needed to be compact and quiet.
- It needed to be easy to use with both auto presets (for dark, milk, and white chocolate) and manual temperature settings.
- It needed to be easy to clean.
- It needed to be comparatively inexpensive, especially for the batch capacity.
From these three criteria, you can see that we were looking to create a competitor to the Chocovision Revs 1 and 2 or ACMC.
So, in this episode we will dive deeper into:
- Why the Chocolatier Pro;
- Some of the earliest design decisions that were made;
- Changes to the design based on evaluating prototypes in the lab and with consumers;
- Present some use cases for the Chocolatier Pro – and why it might be right for you; and
- Address some comments (and criticisms) popping up on social media.
