Hello Cacao Friends, Taj here. I am looking for help to import cacao beans, nibs and paste into the U.S. through California from Lima, Peru. I currently have 90 Kilos of Nibs and 90 Kilos of Pasta de Cacao to send and I do not know if I have to use a customs broker/agent to help receive the shipment or if I can use my EIN to receive the cacao. If anyone could help me with info on procedures for importing cacao shipments into the states from Peru please let me know. Thank you so much.

You will need a customs broker/agent to import beans into the US. Off the top of my head I don’t know if you need an FDA number, but you may. I will ask someone else for more info on this.
