June is National Candy Month, according to the NCA – the National Confectioners Association – the organizers of the Sweets and Snacks Expo among other industry activities.
June is also normally the start of what the locals call monsoon season here in Arizona. Rain. A lot of rain, even here in the high desert.
But this year, the monsoon season has started so early that some locals started calling it Maysoon. For over a week in mid-May there were thunderstorm warnings every day. Plus lightning, thunder, and rain, sometimes heavy enough to start some pretty serious torrents gushing down the local streets and creeks.
