Chocoa – a portmanteau of chocolate and cocoa – first made its presence known over a decade ago at the Maritime Museum in Amsterdam. Over the ensuing decade it has evolved into, at least in the reporter’s opinion, the don’t miss event on the annual calendar.
One of the things that has impressed me about the festival is the evolution of its program. The format has changed over the years to adapt to changes in the market.
I have been an active participant since the second year, and have been involved with the Chocolate Makers’ Forum (CMF) since the year it was introduced; the first year as a host/moderator and in subsequent years guiding the development of the program for the CMF as well as being an advisor to the organizers on other areas of the conference programs.
In this episode I will go over the program and talk about the organization of the festival – both the in-person and virtual aspects. If you’re attending in-person or virtually, this will provide a good overview of what to expect. If you’re not sure whether or not to participate, please feel free to ask questions and I’ll do my best to answer them.
I am sad I will not be attending in person this year – the first in-person Chocoa I have missed since the second year. I’ve lost count of the number of amazing people over the years and connecting with people who don’t regularly come to the US is one of the great opportunities Chocoa offers.
