TheChocolateLifeLIVE: 3rd AVPA Chocolates Processed @ Origin Contest

The 3rd Edition of the AVPA’s Chocolates Processed at Origins Contest continues to recognize that cocoa-producing countries know how to develop chocolates of quality.

​This international contest is reserved for chocolatiers or their groups (cooperatives, Denominations of Origin), and for which AVPA has developed a classification that allows the expression of all the traditional tastes encountered among chocolatiers in cocoa-producing countries.

The two judging categories are:

1. Plain dark chocolate (plain dark chocolate with no vanilla/vanillin); and
2. All other chocolates (dark chocolates with additives: vanilla, milk chocolate, chocolate with various ingredients, and chocolate candies)

There are two juries. The technical jury is chaired by Pascale Adeline and the gastronomic jury is chaired by Emmanuelle de Beauregard.

IN THIS EPISODE of TheChocolateLifeLIVE I will be joined by a member of the AVPA staff and representatives from the companies listed below.

We will discuss the purpose of the contest, the judging process, and hear from winners about the process, how the AVPA is different from other contests, what being a member of the AVPA means to them and brings, and what they hope their award will bring them in the coming years

I will also be presenting some analysis – for example why the country that won the most awards won the most awards.
