This topic for the Friday, July 7th episode of TheChocolateLifeLIVE is:

The idea for this episode comes from a video on the YouTube Channel Intelligence Squared titled: The Catholic Church is a Force for Good in the World:

Taking the negative position were the late Christopher Hitchens and Stephen Fry (pictured in the thumbnail). They are the reasons I watched the video when it came up in my feed as I know that irrespective of whether I agree with what they say I know I will appreciate how they frame and say it.

For this episode I am asking members to take a side – affirmative or negative – and state your case in the comments: why you believe your position is the right one, and why you think we should believe your position is the right one.

I want respondents to limit their arguments for either position in one comment. Respondents are, of course, able to argue both sides of the proposition, but I ask that it be done in separate comments. If you want to submit a comment in video format, please DM it to me and I will play it live during the episode.

As with previous episodes in this series, the format will be my responding to your comments along with my own views. After the live stream I will embed a poll on my Twitter feed where you can vote for which side you think was most persuasive.
